New York is suing Hyundai and Kia for car theft

New York sued last Tuesday documents to initiate proceedings against Hyundai and Kia. The latter are accused of the absence of anti-theft devices on their cars.

The most populous American city, writes xrust, has joined the litigation of Baltimore, Cleveland, San Diego, Milwaukee. Everyone blames Hyundai and Kia for stealing their cars.

New York accuses the automakers mentioned of deliberately failing to install anti-theft devices. The indictment covers the period 2011~2022. The plaintiff alleges that other anti-theft brands were not ignored.

New York claimed that such tactics opened the floodgates for car theft, freeing the hands of criminals. Tik Tok also helps criminals by offering videos explaining how to steal a car if the car does not have push-button ignition.

The city hall reports that the number of Hyundai and Kia thefts has doubled. In just four months of this year, 977 branded cars were stolen, which is six times more than in the same months of 2022.

It is interesting that thefts of BMW, Ford, Honda, Mercedes, Nissan, Toyota have decreased. Hyundai and Kia deny the allegations.
