General Motors, backed by the Seven Automakers, says it is building a company that will provide US car enthusiasts with charging stations, alternative Tesla.
General Motors, which has taken up alternative charging stations that will compete with Tesla, has received the support of Stellantis, Hyundai_Motor, Kia, Honda, BMW, Mercedes, writes xrust. The listed brands occupy half of the automotive market, but Tesla dominates the electric car market.
A coalition of competitors, some lawyers say, may stumble upon antimonopolists. After all, these automakers intend to deploy 30,000 charging stations across North America. The initiators of the project, which opposes Tesla's charging unification initiative, have not yet decided on an investment, but have already estimated that the interconnected network will cost them less.
The Biden administration aims to build 500,000 chargers by 2030. Therefore, the White House has already said that GMotors has taken an important step that promises new jobs.
Tesla, which sells 60% of electric vehicles in the US, owns 18,000 chargers. Earlier, the brand said that it needed unification of power plants, promising to adapt it to competitors' electric vehicles. This tactic allowed Tesla to receive 7.5 billion in federal subsidies to implement the idea. Now the GM coalition is after the money.
