«Toy Story 5» — new teaser trailer released

«Toy Story 5» will raise the old issue of children sitting in front of tablets and smartphone screens. Real toys may go into oblivion. They will be replaced by cartoon adventures.

A fateful question regarding the dangers of sitting in front of screens was asked in the new teaser trailer for Toy Story 5, writes xrust. The trailer was released by Pixar on Tuesday.

The short clip, set to the tune of INXS' «Never Tear Us Apart,» features a new package delivered to Bonnie Anderson, the little girl who inherited all of Andy's toys in the touching 2010 film Toy Story 3.

As the old toys, including Woody, Buzz, Rex, Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head, Jessie and others, look on in anticipation and horror, the package opens to reveal a tablet with a picture of a frog named Lilypad. He beckons to Bonnie: “Let's play!”

Judging by the girl's enthusiastic reaction, the toys in this story will have to work hard to remain as loved as before. Critics speculate: It's unclear whether the film will address the blatant meta-irony that the toys in question have become on-screen characters themselves. After all, they became characters in a 30-year-old film franchise.

The voice cast of Toy Story 5 will include such famous faces as Tom Hanks, Tim Allen and Joan Cusack. According to the description of the Pixar trailer, the film Lilypad will be voiced by franchise newcomers Ernie Hudson, Conan O'Brien and Greta Lee.

The film is scheduled for release in theaters in the summer of 2026.
