Spain beat Germany and won the Women's Nations League final

Spain forward Claudia Pina scored two superb goals in the second half. This allowed the team to retain the Women's Nations League title. She scored a 3-0 victory in the second leg of the final over Germany. The teams played last Tuesday.

The Germans dominated Friday's game, missing many chances, writes xrust. In Madrid the teams swapped places. The Spaniards came out of the blocks but were unable to get the ball past Anne-Katrin Berger in the German goal.

Pina finally broke a deadlock that had lasted more than 150 minutes across two legs, starting with a moment of inspiration in the 61st minute when the German defense lost concentration. It cost them dearly.

In the shadow of Julia Gwynne, Pina moved to the left and passed to Esther Gonzalez. The German defender switched off for a moment. This was enough for Pina to create the space she needed to shoot, and although Berger touched the ball, she was unable to keep it.

Vicky Lopez scored her second goal from a similar position seven minutes later, but she needed no help as she broke in from the right and curled the ball past Berger.

Pina saved the best for last, collecting the ball in midfield and surged ahead before firing an irresistible shot past Berger in the 74th minute to ensure Spain retained the title they won against France in the tournament's inaugural edition in 2024.
