Samsung pleased fans of the brand with the announcement of the latest version of the SSD drive. This is 9100 PRO PCIe 5.0. The capacity of the new product is 8 TB. The developers stated that the model has surpassed the capacity of its analogs.
Previously released versions with a capacity of 1 TB, 2 TB and 4 TB, notes xrust, are left behind by the new product. It has not lost sequential read and write speed. This figure remained at 14,800 MB/s and 13,400 MB/s, respectively. The drive has Samsung V-NAND memory. This is a modification of the eighth generation.
Among other features is its own Presto controller. It provides peak random read/write speeds of up to 2200K and 2600K IOPS. The new variant also features 8GB of onboard LPDDR4X DRAM for faster data transfers and has a storage capacity of 4,800TB.
Despite the larger capacity and performance, Samsung says the 9100 PRO 8TB offers up to 49% higher power efficiency compared to its predecessor thanks to a 5nm controller and firmware optimization. The version with a heatsink remains quite thin at just 11.25mm, which is the maximum height allowed for installation in a PlayStation 5 console, so you can install the drive in a console with heatsinks for additional cooling.
