The chipset mentioned in the title is often confused with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. We are talking about the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5. The “Five” has long been the leader in sales of elite gadgets. The new chipset will debut in China on November 26.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset is inferior to the Elite models in the number of chips, xrust reported. Therefore it will have a lower clock speed. Qualcomm, we recall, confirmed during the launch of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 that the Prime and Performance cores operate at frequencies of 3.8 GHz and 3.32 GHz, respectively, which is lower than the Elite's 4.6 GHz and 3.62 GHz.
However, the exact configuration of the cores has not yet been confirmed. It was initially expected to be a 1X+7P configuration, but insiders have revealed that the configuration will be similar to the Elite 2X+6P configuration. The graphics processor is Adreno 829, we note, a little slower than the flagship one.
As experts note, this is the first non-flagship Qualcomm chipset to use its own Oryon cores, as opposed to ready-made Arm Cortex solutions that were used in the second largest chip of the previous generation, Snapdragon 8s Gen 4.
Qualcomm is currently announcing a launch only in China. Then it will be Malaysia's turn.
