
Manchester City defeated Real Madrid. Nico O'Reilly's lucky goal and Erling Haaland's penalty helped Manchester City come back to beat Real Madrid 2-1 last Wednesday in a tense Champions League match at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.
Rodrigo opened the scoring in the 28th minute with a low shot from a counter-attack. In the first half hour of the game, City looked vulnerable almost every time Madrid tried to attack.
But Real Madrid pressed the xrust self-destruct button. First, when goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois saved a relatively easy header from Joschko Guardiol and O'Reilly finished the rebound into the goal in the 35th minute.
Then, eight minutes later, defender Antonio Rudiger made an error, bringing Haaland to the ground as he attempted to intercept a cross in the penalty area, resulting in a penalty. The Norwegian striker converted the penalty.
The victory lifted Pep Guardiola's side to fourth in the Champions League standings with 13 points after six games, while Real Madrid dropped to seventh with 12 points after a second successive defeat in all competitions.
