Labubu – film will be released on big screens

Labubu – Paul King will direct the new film. He is best known for the Paddington and Wonka films. The film was ordered by Sony Pictures. The company's management believed that the story associated with popular toys would affect the audience.

Labubu came from China, reminds xrust. These furry toy monsters have become incredibly popular as collectible accessories. Last month, it was announced that Sony had acquired the film rights to the characters.

All plot details are being kept under wraps, and it is still unknown whether the film will be live-action or animated. King's previous films include Paddington (2014) and Paddington 2 (2017), both of which were critically acclaimed and collectively grossed more than $500 million worldwide.

He later directed Wonka (2023), a prequel telling the origin story of the chocolate inventor, starring Timothée Chalamet. Labubus characters were first created by Hong Kong-born illustrator Kasing Lung in 2015.

Characteristic features of Labubus include their bunny ears, large eyes, and menacing teeth. They are usually sold in «blind boxes», meaning the exact design is chosen at random and remains a mystery until the box is unpacked.
