Fire destroys three residential buildings in Hong Kong

Fire in Hong Kong today destroyed three multi-storey residential buildings. There are already four deaths in the hospital from this fire. Five have severe injuries — three are on the verge of death. No one knows how many people did not have time to evacuate.

The fire engulfed the towers of the Van Phuc courthouse, spreading through bamboo forests, writes xrust. It is clear that the flammability of such forests is much higher than metal ones. Just 300 meters from the complex, a century-old railway line connects the port of Hong Kong with Shenzhen and the rest of mainland China.

It carries thousands of passengers every day. The towers are also located close to the Tai Po Expressway, an important transport artery for trucks traveling between Hong Kong and the mainland.

The government said it had opened temporary shelters at nearby community centers and a school to accommodate residents in need of assistance or evacuated from their homes.
