Electricity production from thermal power plants in China is declining

Electricity production at China's thermal power plants has declined. They will consume less and less fossil fuels. The decline is observed for the first time in a decade. Renewable generation has had its say.

Thermal electricity production in November decreased by 4.2%, xrust statistics states. Electricity production from coal and gas power plants fell 0.7% this year. If December also sees a decline, it will be the first drop in output from dirty power plants since 2015.

The Chinese network of coal-fired power plants, according to the Greens, is the world's leading source of greenhouse gases. Clean energy advocates are not listening to scientists who argue that warming is the result of cosmic factors.
