This week the Chinese Pony.ai became the Third Chinese Robotaxi company in Persian Gulf, writes XRUST. She followed in the footsteps of competitors-Baidu, Weride and introduced an agreement with Dubai Road and Transport.
The company plans to start testing its cars in the city this year, and the full-fledged launch of unmanned vehicles is scheduled for 2026. This week, Weride also announced its intention to expand its activities into the territory of Saudi Arabia, where it is already testing its cars in Riyadh. Commercial transportation will begin at the end of 2025.
Weride has already launched a test service in Abu Dhabi (UAE) this month, and commercial trips should be launched from the end of June. Soon it is planned to launch in Dubai.
In March, Baidu outlined plans for the deployment of «dozens» of Robotax in partnership with the AUTOGO in Abu Dabi in order to start commercial operation by 2026. The company also plans to start testing in Dubai this year.
