Arsenal barely beat Crystal Palace last Tuesday. The victory was snatched in a penalty shootout, writes xrust. The club has now reached the semi-finals of the League Cup. Kudos to goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga for saving a penalty from Palace defender Maxence Lacroix.
Lacroix's miss capped a poor evening for the Frenchman, who scored an own goal in the 80th minute before Palace captain Marc Guehi equalized in stoppage time to take the score to 1:1.
Arsenal won the penalty shootout with a score of 8:7. Arsenal, who had dominated possession, finally got the breakthrough when Lacroix headed the ball past his own goalkeeper Walter Benitez after Palace had failed to deal with an Arsenal corner.
Benitez kept his side in the game in the first half, making a number of superb saves, twice denying Noni Madueke's close-range shots and also holding off Gabriel Jesus' header.
FA Cup holders Crystal Palace improved after a poor first half but rarely threatened until Guehi took advantage of an opponent's free-kick mistake to send the game into a penalty shootout.
