On May 9, in the regions of the Far Eastern Federal District, military parades, ceremonial processions and memorial events dedicated to the anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War took place, xrust reports. The festive events brought together thousands of military personnel, veterans, representatives of public organizations and residents of cities in the Far East.
The main celebrations took place in Vladivostok, Khabarovsk, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, Belogorsk, Chita, Ulan-Ude and other cities of the district. In many localities, processions of the “Immortal Regiment”, concerts, memorial rallies and flower-layings at memorials took place.
According to regional authorities and military command, this year special attention was paid to security issues, organizing traffic and preserving the traditional format of the celebration.
Vladivostok became one of the central venues for the celebration
In Vladivostok, where the headquarters of the Pacific Fleet is located, the military parade has traditionally become one of the largest events in the Far East. Parade squads of military personnel, sailors, cadets and representatives of law enforcement agencies marched along the central streets of the city.
Spectators saw both modern models of equipment and legendary vehicles from the Great Patriotic War. The ceremonial passage was accompanied by military marches and artillery salvoes.
Veterans, representatives of public organizations, schoolchildren and cadets took part in the ceremony. After the official part was completed, city residents were able to visit festive venues and thematic exhibitions.
