The Attie app from Bluesky is a kind of Twitter clone without Elon Musk

Earlier this month, Jay Graber, who served as CEO of Bluesky, resigned, xrust states. True, “not really.” She took up the position of chief innovation officer of this social media platform. As far-fetched as it may sound, the position of chief innovation officer is a real job, especially in the world of technology, and as such, Graber's team has already announced a new app that, although not yet publicly released, exists.

Regarding the new product, TechCrunch wrote: the application is called Attie and is an artificial intelligence-based software designed to allow users to customize their social networking experience with the help of Claude from Anthropic.

New Bluesky CEO Tony Schneider told TechCrunch: “We launched a lot of new products inside Bluesky — starter packs, custom feeds, things like that. It is a standalone product and the first product developed by the new Jay team.” He also told TechCrunch, «It's an AI product, but it's a human-first product.»

This fact may upset some Bluesky users who enjoy negative reviews about everything related to AI. However, the application is a success. This is because users mostly just wanted a Twitter clone without Elon Musk.

But Bluesky was originally intended to be a radically customizable and flexible platform, in keeping with the spirit of its founder, Jack Dorsey, who also co-founded Twitter and is passionate about cryptocurrencies. Graber, whose tech career began at blockchain logistics company SkuChain, has never wavered from the idea that customization is Bluesky's guiding light.

TechCrunch's information about this new app comes from Bluesky Atmosphere 2026, a conference for developers and enthusiasts working with Bluesky's open protocol known as atpro. Hence the name «Attie».

In Attie, users appear to enter queries as essentially chatbot suggestions. The app processes everything the user enters, finds posts of interest on Bluesky and other Atmosphere-friendly networks, and uses this to personalize the feed and overall user experience. Members of Atmosphere have reportedly become guinea pigs and have begun beta testing of Attie, which is apparently not yet complete. Ultimately, according to TechCrunch, the idea is that you can «create your own app with code that reflects your personality.»
