Tesla has just introduced a major update scheduled for spring 2026, writes xrust. It includes a host of features that revolutionize how owners interact with their vehicles. Here are the long-awaited new keywords for the Grok system from xAI to the new autonomous driving application. This is one of the most significant updates in recent times.
In an official announcement on Platform X, the automaker confirmed that the update is «coming soon» and will bring a number of technical improvements to improve the usability of the vehicles.
New application for self-driving
One of the main innovations is a special application for autonomous driving, developed for cars equipped with AI4 computers (Hardware 4). It allows you to subscribe to FSD, track your FSD usage over a period of days or months, and watch training videos on how to use specific FSD features.
It includes the powerful «FSD (Supervised) Stats» screen, which recently debuted in the Netherlands. Owners will be able to see FSD usage percentage, track usage streaks over multiple days, and view usage histograms over time, all on one screen. This level of transparency is a huge step forward in demonstrating to owners exactly how they benefit from the software.
“Hey, Grok”
Elon Musk first hinted at the «Hey Grok» activation feature last summer, and now it's finally going live. Owners will be able to launch the xAI-powered voice assistant by simply saying, “Hey Grok.” In addition to general questions, Grok can now set location-based reminders, such as «Remind me to buy bread when I'm near home.»
Experts believe that we are still waiting for Grok to be able to directly control the FSD and replace the voice control system, this is a good step forward.
Pet mode
Tesla is officially abandoning its dog-focused «Dog Mode.» It looks like Tesla is renaming «Dog Mode» to «Pet Mode.» Tesla will allow owners to choose what image will be displayed on the screen while they are not at home: a dog, a cat or a hedgehog.
You can even personalize the display by adding your pet's name. It's a playful nod to the diversity of Tesla owners' pets and a fun UI detail that makes the car more personal.
New “Other applications” icon
The App Launcher has also seen some minor changes: the More Apps icon has changed from three dots to a folder-style icon, strikingly similar to how iOS displays folders.
Better visualization of cars
Tesla has increased the variety of car models on the screen parked car. This is an unexpected change, since, according to experts, what was already there was enough.
Tesla says this feature is for the new Model 3 and Model Y, which is the updated versions, but we expect it to also support the Cybertruck and other Model 3 and Model Y vehicles with AMD processors in a future update.
Travel statistics and economy
Tesla is also introducing graphs for odometers. This appears to be replacing the old Trips card that used to be located next to the media player. The new Trip Statistics feature allows you to create multiple trips to track energy consumption across different driving modes. Owners can quickly access consumption data by swiping left on the media player, and it looks like it will now be necessary to swipe vertically to switch between Since Charged, Current Trip and other saved trips. This feature will likely be exclusive to the Model 3, Model Y and Cybertruck, but Tesla hasn't specified.
There are other changes too many to count.
