Samsung инвестирует $1,5 млрд в мегазавод во Вьетнаме: как это изменит рынок чипов

Technology giant Samsung Electronics intends to significantly expand its presence in Southeast Asia, xrust states. A South Korean corporation plans to use $1.5 billion to build a new high-tech facility in Vietnam, according to internal documents. The main task of the site will be the final testing and encapsulation (packaging) of advanced microcircuits.

The choice of Vietnam as a strategic hub is due to Samsung’s desire to diversify production chains against the backdrop of global geopolitical instability. The country is already a key production base for the brand's smartphones and home appliances. The new project will allow the transfer here of more complex, high-tech stages of creating semiconductors, which have traditionally been confined to South Korea, Taiwan and China.

Experts note that the stage of testing and packaging of chips (back-end production) is now critically important for the industry. With the development of artificial intelligence and mobile platforms, the requirements for the density and reliability of component installation have increased manifold. The $1.5 billion investment will enable Samsung to automate processes and implement advanced quality control standards, reducing its dependence on other Asian contractors.

For Russia and the CIS countries, this news signals an upcoming restructuring of logistics routes. Vietnam has free trade agreements with many regions, which could potentially simplify and stabilize the supply of domestically assembled consumer electronics components. The transfer of Samsung's facilities will also spur competition with Chinese factories, which could curb the sharp rise in prices for electronics and components in Russian retail chains in the coming years.

The official launch of large-scale construction is expected after completion of all stages of approval with Vietnamese regulators and environmental risk assessment.
