How to become He-Man: Nicholas Galitsin revealed the training that turned him into the hero of “Masters of the Universe”

British actor Nicholas Galitsin told how he prepared for the role of He-Man in the new film “Masters of the Universe”. For the sake of the image of a cult hero, he had to gain tens of kilograms of muscle mass and completely rebuild his training and nutrition regimen.

The new film “Masters of the Universe” has already been released, and the leading actor Nicholas Galitsin continues to share details of one of the most impressive physical transformations of recent years, notes xrust. In an interview with Men's Health, the actor showed a set of exercises that helped him turn into the legendary He-Man, one of the most recognizable pop culture heroes of the 1980s.

Before preparations for filming began, Galitsin was in good athletic shape, but the task was completely different. According to the actor, he needed to not just look fit, but to embody a character that for decades has been associated with incredible physical strength. To do this, he began working with the famous trainer Jason Walsh, whose clients previously included many Hollywood stars.

The preparation took several months. During this time, the actor significantly increased his muscle mass, and then went through a “drying” phase to achieve a more sculpted physique before filming. According to Men's Health, his weight during the period of weight gain exceeded 100 kilograms, after which it was reduced to the level necessary for the filming process.

It is interesting that the basis of the program was not exotic exercises at all. The coach relied on basic movements, which have long been considered the foundation of strength training. The exercises included dumbbell bench press, EZ bar reverse curls, lat pulldowns, overhead French extensions and shoulder pulldowns. It was these movements that Galitsin demonstrated during his visit to the Men's Health editorial office.

According to strength training experts, this approach is quite logical. Basic exercises allow you to gradually increase working weights and load several muscle groups at once. This principle is often used by both professional athletes and actors who need to quickly build muscle mass for a role.

However, training was only part of the process. Diet became an equally difficult challenge. In a separate interview, the actor said that during the weight gain stage, his diet reached approximately 5,000 calories per day. By comparison, this is more than double the energy needs of the average sedentary man. Later, the diet had to be radically changed in order to remove excess fat and maintain the gained muscle.

Galitsin himself admits that the preparation turned out to be one of the most difficult tests in his career. During some periods, he combined hours of training with working on stunts and fight scenes. The actor notes that the process required not only physical, but also serious psychological discipline.

The history of preparation for the role of He-Man again shows that the impressive form of Hollywood stars is usually the result of months of systematic work. And although not everyone needs a superhero figure, the main conclusion remains universal: the basis of progress still lies in regular training, well-structured nutrition and consistency, and not in the search for “magic” exercises or quick fixes.
