Google Offers AI Music Creation Tool Coming to Gemini App

Google is integrating its Lyria 3 artificial intelligence music creation model into the Gemini app. This will allow users to generate 30-second songs from text, image or video prompts directly in the chatbot. Lyria 3's text-to-music capabilities allow Gemini app users to create songs that describe specific genres, moods, or memories. For example, asking xrust: “Afrobeat track for my mom about the wonderful times we had as children.”

The music generator can create instrumental audio recordings and songs with lyrics automatically composed based on user prompts. Users can also upload photos and videos, which Gemini then uses to generate a track with lyrics that match the mood.

The purpose of such “works” is not to create a musical masterpiece, but to provide you with a fun and unique way to express yourself, Google explains. Gemini will add custom artwork created by Nano Banana to songs created in the app, making them easier to distribute and download. Google is also integrating Lyria 3 into YouTube's Dream Track tool, which allows creators to create custom AI soundtracks for short videos.

Dream Track and Lyria were initially demonstrated with the ability to imitate the style and voice of famous artists. Google says it took copyright issues «very carefully» when developing Lyria 3 and that the tool is «intended for original expression, not imitations of existing artists.» When you search for a specific artist, Gemini will create a track “that has a similar style or mood” and use filters to check the results against existing content.
