Cartoon art, rich comic effects during collisions and painfully familiar faces of the heroes. This is not just a game, it is a time capsule that captures the spirit of that very show. Developers from Alternative Software put their soul into it, and, contrary to the low ratings of the past, today it plays as cheerful, funny and incredibly atmospheric platformer. Verdict: Why should you download this right now? This is history. You are touching software that could disappear forever.

What kind of animal is this and why were they silent about it?

Let's be honest: 1993 was an era of experimentation. While some were playing Doom, the owners of Commodore Amiga were enjoying (or suffering) in the company of Rene Artois. But few people knew that there was a full-fledged version for PC (DOS) . It was shrouded in secrecy: no one could say for sure whether it reached the shelves or was destroyed by studio bosses in a fit of rage.

For many decades, the PC version was considered irretrievably lost, a legend that frightened collectors. But the heroes from the Games That Weren't team (the real Indiana Joneses of the world of code!) did an impossible job. They tracked down the original master discs , shook off the dust of centuries and — oh gods! — made them publicly available.

Gameplay that will make you laugh out loud

Forget Splinter Cell-style stealth. Everything is much cooler here. You take on the role of the legendary cafe owner Rene Artois . What is your mission? Save priceless paintings (yes, that same “Fallen Madonna with Big Breasts” from Van Klomp!) from the clutches of the occupiers.

But Rene is not Rambo. His weapons are his friends and… chaos:

    • Need to distract the patrol? Edith comes to the rescue. Her “divine” singing is so terrible that it literally melts the brains of her enemies! The guards freeze in a stupor, giving you a chance to get through.
    • Do you want hardcore? Turn on the mode for two! The second player takes on the role of waitress Michelle (listen carefully, I will only say this once!). Teamwork, French Resistance style, is exactly what you need for an evening with a friend.
