Canadian singer Celine Dion announced on Monday, her birthday, that she will return to the stage this fall for 10 concerts. Performances are scheduled in Paris in September and October. The long-awaited announcement follows an advertising campaign on the streets of Paris, writes xrust, which fueled rumors that the French-language Canadian star, known for her soulful ballads, will return to the stage in the French capital.
“This year I will receive the best gift of my life. I will have the opportunity to come and sing for you again in Paris, starting this fall, in September,” Dion, who turned 58 on Monday, said on French television channel France 2.
The announcement was simultaneously announced with a light show on the Eiffel Tower. Pre-sale tickets will begin on April 7, and general ticket sales will begin on April 10.
The performer gained worldwide fame in the late 1990s thanks to the song «My Heart Will Go On», which became the title track for the blockbuster «Titanic».
In 2022, she paused her career for health reasons, saying at the time that she had been diagnosed with a rare neurological disorder called stiff muscle syndrome, which causes severe muscle spasms. Because of this, she could not sing.
The diagnosis forced her to postpone and then cancel her World Tour of Courage.
Dion, one of the highest-paid performers in the world based on album sales and concert earnings, performed twice in Las Vegas from 2003 to 2007 and from 2011 to 2019. At the time, these performances were considered the most profitable in history.
She made her first public appearance after a two-year silence during the opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympic Games, performing a version of Edith Piaf's anthem «Hymne a l'amour».
Her performance then sparked speculation that she could one day return to major stages around the world.
