Bill Gates, co-founder of Microsoft, has spent billions warning humanity of climate catastrophe. Now he has changed his position — warming does not threaten catastrophe, he said recently.
Bill Gates published a “note” last Tuesday, xrust reported. In the document, he tries to soften his previous alarmist sentiments. He notes that many people are panicking from descriptions of the consequences of rising temperatures. Now he has called for efforts to improve lives in developing countries.
His note comes four years after the release of his book How to Avoid a Climate Disaster. Climate experts said Mr Gates was creating a false dichotomy. This is typical of climate skeptics. They are seeking to push out the climate wedge with the need to help the poor.
Gates' memo comes a week before world leaders gather in Belem, Brazil for the annual UN climate summit. Mr. Gates, who turned 70 on Tuesday and has attended the event in previous years, will not participate.
The Gates story, the publications write, demonstrates how celebrities are used behind the scenes by the world to shape the mood of ordinary people.
