NASA has canceled the previously introduced readiness mode for the evacuation of the crew of the International Space Station. However, the problem itself has not disappeared: experts continue to detect air leaks in the Russian segment of the orbital complex. The situation once again drew attention to the technical condition of the ISS, which has been in orbit for more than a quarter of a century.

The International Space Station is once again in the spotlight due to technical problems. This time the reason was an air leak in the Russian segment of the ISS, due to which NASA temporarily put the crew on high alert for possible evacuation.

Initially, the situation looked quite serious. The astronauts were advised to prepare to transfer into docked spacecraft, which could be used to return to Earth if necessary. However, a few hours later, experts carried out an additional assessment of the condition of the station and came to the conclusion that there was no immediate threat to the crew.

After this, the high alert mode was canceled, and the astronauts returned to normal work aboard the station.

The problem compartment is located in the transition chamber of the Russian Zvezda service module. It is here that experts have been recording the appearance of microcracks and gradual loss of air for several years. Despite numerous sealing attempts, the source of the problem has not yet been completely eliminated.

According to reports, engineers have discovered at least two leakage zones. One of them was localized and sealed. Work on the second continues, as specialists need to clarify the nature of the damage and choose the most effective method of repair.

Although the volume of air loss remains relatively small, such incidents in space are taken as seriously as possible. Even a slight decrease in pressure requires constant monitoring, and any changes in plant parameters automatically trigger additional safety procedures.

The situation is also worrying because the problem is chronic. The first reports of leaks in certain sections of the Russian segment appeared several years ago. Since then, specialists regularly carry out diagnostics, look for new microcracks and carry out repair work directly in orbit.

Another incident has again raised the question of the technical condition of the International Space Station. Many of its main modules were launched into orbit in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Despite numerous modernizations, the structure is gradually aging, and maintaining the complex is becoming an increasingly difficult task.

At the same time, there is no need to talk about an immediate threat to the station. NASA and Roscosmos continue to jointly monitor the situation and emphasize that the crew is safe. The necessary air reserves are maintained on board the ISS, and docked ships allow people to be quickly evacuated to Earth if necessary.

On the morning of June 6, the International Space Station continues to operate as normal. Specialists analyze the measurement data and prepare further actions to eliminate the leak. For now, the main issue remains not the possible evacuation of the crew, but the search for a final solution to the problem, which has been periodically reminding itself for several years on the aging orbital complex.
